Sea turtles are some of the most magnificent creatures in the animal kingdom. With lifespans averaging over 50 years, these incredible animals face numerous threats, including poaching and plastic pollution.

June 16th is a significant date for sea turtle conservation. On this day, individuals, conservationists, and organizations come together to highlight the importance of protecting sea turtles. On June 16th, 2024, the Java Foundation sponsored an art competition during the Diani Sea Turtle Festival. This festival, organized by the Conservation Education Society (CES), aims to raise awareness about sea turtle conservation.

The art competition showcased the impressive artistic skills of primary school children from various schools in Kwale County. The competition featured a diverse array of artwork, including paintings, drawings, sculptures, and other creative pieces. Java Foundation was thrilled to support this aspect of the Diani Sea Turtle Festival, culminating in the awarding of the top three art pieces.

Java Foundation is dedicated to nurturing and promoting both visual and non-visual artists. Our goal is to foster the growth of artistic skills for the benefit of the artists and the communities around them.

NAIROBI, 19 February 2024… Java House has announced a one-year sponsorship as a nutritional partner for Kenya’s national women’s volleyball team, Malkia Strikers. Undertaken through the Java Foundation and the Kenya Volleyball Federation, the agreement will see the leading restaurant brand provide meals and refreshments for the decorated team for the next year during their training sessions.

Speaking during the sponsorship announcement, Java House CEO Priscilla Gathungu stated that the sponsorship demonstrates Java’s commitment to supporting local talent and expressed confidence in the Malkia Strikers ahead of their international appearances.

“As a Kenyan-born brand, we recognize the importance of sports in society and improving the lives of our youth. We are also greatly inspired by our sportsmen and women’s continued resilience in international competitions, and we are determined to see our country’s flag continue to fly high,” said Ms. Gathungu, adding, “Through this sponsorship, we will address the specific needs of the players as nutritional partners and support the Malkia Strikers as they represent the country in upcoming regional and international competitions. The team has proven its worth, guiding Kenya to ten continental titles. We are confident that they will continue to make the country proud.”

The Malkia Strikers are scheduled to travel to Ghana for the All-Africa Games, which will take place from March 8th to 23rd.  They will then continue to prepare for their participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics, which they earned by winning the African title at last year’s CAVB Africa Women’s Nations Cup.

On his part, the Kenya Volleyball Federation President, Charles Nyaberi, emphasized the importance of sponsorships, stating that the squad is well prepared for the upcoming competitions.

“The Malkia Strikers continue to bring positive attention to the sport, ensuring Kenya shines. When it comes to athletes, they have very specific nutritional needs, especially as they prepare for intense competition, and Java’s assistance will be invaluable in helping the team achieve the best results. Such encouragement motivates our players to perform at their best both on and off the court,” said Nyaberi.

Ms. Gathungu urged more businesses to support Kenyan sports teams, calling it “a good investment in driving brand loyalty” and positioning Kenya as a popular sporting destination.

Java and WFP sign MoU to raise funds for school feeding https://javahousegroup.com/java-and-wfp-sign-mou-to-raise-funds-for-school-feeding/ https://javahousegroup.com/java-and-wfp-sign-mou-to-raise-funds-for-school-feeding/#respond Sun, 30 Jun 2024 20:32:58 +0000 https://brand2d.tech/javagroup/?p=548

Java House has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the World Food Programme Kenya office to raise funds in support of school feeding initiatives across the country.

Under this partnership, Java House will hold a fundraising campaign across its outlets, encouraging customers to donate towards the provision of nutritious meals for underprivileged school children. Every contribution made will be used for WFP’s school feeding initiatives across the country.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Priscilla Gathungu, the Java House CEO, urged customers and well-wishers to support the critical initiative that will go a long way in making an impact on childhood hunger.

“We see this collaboration as an investment in our communities. Kenya already does well in education, and we must continue this trend into the future. As we work together to provide food for the children, we are also giving them hope and a chance for them to compete globally. We are proud to serve close to 20,000 people as a business, and we ask everyone who comes to Java to support the initiative and ensure that no child is left behind,” said Ms. Gathungu.

On her part, Lauren Landis, the World Food Programme Kenya Country Director, applauded the initiative emphasizing the vital role school feeding programmes have in helping children complete their education.

“Universal school feeding in Kenya would mean reaching 10 million school children, which is an ambitious goal. For now, we hope to increase coverage from the current 2.5 million children to at least 3 million children. School feeding can be a platform that not only supports learning but can also have a positive impact on local farming, improving diets, and encouraging environmental education,” said Ms. Landis.

Java House currently provides school lunches to 3,000 children through the Java Foundation.
